Video from Open for Business 2016

We are pleased to announce that the video from the Open for Business conference — which ran as part of the Wuthering Bytes technology festival back in September — is now online.

Open for Business was once again hosted by the BCS Open Source Specialist Group in partnership with OpenUK, the UK open source software industry association. As with the previous year, the conference explored key themes in open source software as they relate to service providers and consumers, across both the private and public sectors.

We were incredibly fortunate to have been joined by an excellent speaker line-up and this year decided to slightly reduce the total number of talks, so that we could host interactive clinic sessions with speakers over the course of an extended lunch break. These we’re not filmed, as we wanted people to be able to speak freely and, should they wish, discuss commercial etc. matters.

At the present time there are no plans to host Open for Business again in 2017, but the video of the 18 talks from previous years will hopefully prove to be an excellent resource for anyone running or thinking of setting up an open source business. With topics spanning everything from technology transfer and innovation support, to procurement, governance and legal considerations. Not to mention some really great insights from SMEs, industry veterans and global technology companies.

We’d like to thank everyone who presented at Open for Business and, of course, the delegates, who shared many of their own valuable insights also during questions and in the breaks.
